There are some new people who've started at my office in the past week, both of whom have relocated from out of state. Both are engaged.
One woman's fiance was driving down from Philly today with a truck load of belongings from their old apartment. It was his first trip down and he was meeting her on campus to pick her up before bringing the load to their new abode.
"Where are you," she said into her cell phone, with a bit of an edge. He was very late. She looked panicked by his response.
"Any idea where Shriver Laboratory is," she asked me.
I looked puzzled. "Um, not at all." Ours is not a school known to have entire buildings devoted to laboratories.
If you've never seen a petite woman get SERIOUSLY pissed off, I don't recommend it. It's one of the more terrifying things I've ever witnessed. Their anger doubles their size to make up for what God didn't give them. Remember that scene from The Mask when Jim Carrey's eyes popped out? Her eyes did nearly the same thing.
Her beloved fiance, the one who is relocating for her new job and who has been by her side as she's gone through her job search showed up at the wrong university. Nevermind she'd left driving directions for him to the RIGHT university. He ignored those directions and did his own thing, showing up at a campus where she is not, nor ever has been, employed or even interviewed.
Men have really got to learn to listen better. Particularly if their lady is really short.
